Health
Care at
Fontys University has gained a wealth of expertise and
experience over many years through the institutes Allied Health
Sciences, Nursing, Bio Medical Engineering and International Health
Projects
The first
international health project
Fontys initiated was in 1996 when the
Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (MBRT),
developed ultrasound courses for developing countries in close
co-operation with MEMISA (Cord Aid), a well known Dutch NGO.
Following a successful pilot project in Kenya

the rapid
growth of this activity clearly demonstrated the need for similar
projects and the development of a separate department specializing
in Health projects
Courses in diagnostic radiography and ultrasound have since been
implemented country wide in many countries including Kenya, Ghana,
Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia with extensive involvement of
local expertise and resources
After our
initial focus on Medical Imaging, it became quite clear that other
areas in the health sector could benefit from
Fontys expertise
The
extensive range of programs
for the various health care imaging
modalities and professions now undertaken also include Curriculum
Development and the dynamic possibilities of education by
e-learning
